Training and Development
Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) is dedicated to professional development for classified staff members. A trained staff is an investment that is valued and supported. A trained staff is a confident, effective staff that enhances the educational experience of our students.
A professional development committee is responsible for tracking classified professional growth monies and expenditures, and for reviewing individual professional development funding requests. The committee may propose one professional development activity per year that the entire staff can attend during work hours. The committee will establish its own procedures for executing its charge. The following are established procedures:
- Employees who request to attend an annual conference may be funded by the professional development budget up to two (2) times. Continual attendance is expected to be built into department budget afterwards.
- For Employees requesting tuition reimbursement outside of LTCC:
- Courses toward a degree or educational goal not pertaining to their position nor benefitting LTCC will not be funded.
- Courses toward a degree that result in a boost in pay will not be funded.
- An employee may request reimbursement of up to a maximum of $350 per unit, up to six (6) units annually.
- If employee also requests weekly release time, a reduction of the per unit rate reimbursement
will be as follows:
- 1 hour = $310
- 2 hours = $270
- 3 hours = $230
