What are Canvas and Passport?

Canvas is the Learning Management System (LMS) used by LTCC to access course materials online. For students in online, hybrid, and face-to-face classes, Canvas  holds your syllabus, assignments, learning materials, and virtual classroom/Zoom access.

Passport is LTCC's web portal for accessing and managing all types of LTCC information, including important links, registration, fee payments, student bulletins, and your student email. It is important to login and check Passport frequently for official communication.

Username/Password Troubleshooting and Help

The same username and password are used for Canvas and Passport logins.

  1. Visit the Enrollment Office/Student Services One-Stop with a photo ID for help with your username and password. Call (530) 541-4660 x211 or email enrollmentservices@ltcc.edu  Alternatively, use this Username lookup form.
  2. Please download and login with your student username to your free Microsoft Office 365 (yearly student access) for Microsoft tools like Outlook (email), Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for phone and computer.
  3. Ensure your computer or device is updated with the most current operating system, then browser versions (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc.) *Keep at least two browsers updated and ready to use!
  4. Cell phones are not recommended for all coursework, though the Canvas app is also popular for phones and tablets.

Canvas Login

There are two main ways to access your Canvas courses:

  1. Use the LTCC Passport portal quick links, then click the Canvas Login link. (See: instructions for accessing Canvas via Passport)
  2. Direct login to https://laketahoecc.instructure.com. 
Find Your Canvas Course

Log into Canvas to view your classes on the Dashboard or Courses list.(To see past and future enrollments, click Courses-->scroll to All CoursesàCurrent, Past, or Future lists.)  

Once your instructor makes the course available, you can click the course name hyperlink to access your courses on the first day of the quarter. 

Be sure to explore the syllabus and announcements, then follow any instructions for "checking in" or completing first day/week assignments to avoid being dropped from the course as a "no show." When in doubt, email your instructor.
