Library Expands eBook Collection

February 7, 2017

Lake Tahoe Community College’s Roberta Mason Library continues to expand its digital collection, making thousands of more free eBooks available to busy students who rely on digital research for their academic needs. The library’s eBook collection just jumped to over 212,000 titles available at no cost to students or the college, thanks to a system-wide purchase made by the California Community College Library Consortium. This group makes it possible for community college campuses around the state to provide free eBooks to its students, along with other important academic support services.

LTCC’s eBook collection supports the college’s various academic and vocational programs by offering titles in subjects from Arts & Architecture to Study Aids & Language Learning. The massive collection also includes Children & Young Adult fiction and non-fiction, plus popular works of Adult fiction. These eBooks can be read online, or they can be downloaded and read offline using an eBook Viewer. The collection is available to all LTCC students, faculty and staff.

Just as they would with a physical book, students can “check out” library eBooks for a certain length of time. If an eBook is already checked out to another student, a hold can be placed on it so when it becomes available, the next student in line will be notified. To learn more about the LTCC library’s eBook collection and how to find and borrow digital books, contact the Roberta Mason Library staff at (530) 541-4660 ext. 232, or stop by and make an appointment at the front desk with a research librarian for one-on-one assistance.
