Free Bus Trips Boosting Student Ridership

February 27, 2018

Lake Tahoe Community College students are taking advantage of public transportation in the Tahoe Basin like never before, thanks to a partnership between LTCC and the Tahoe Transportation District. Since Fall 2017, LTCC and TTD have partnered to offer unlimited free rides on all South Shore bus routes to current LTCC students, whether full time or part time. The result: almost 2,900 rides have been logged by LTCC since last year! That's a lot of gasoline and money saved - good for the wallet, good for Tahoe's environment. All these students had to do is present their college photo ID cards (with the current sticker displayed on it) to enjoy free rides to campus, to their jobs, and all around town.

We’d like to learn even more about how, and how often, LTCC students are using their ID cards for free bus rides. If you’d like to help us get a clearer picture, please take a short online survey. Participants can enter to win a free four-unit class (or a combo of classes totaling four units, for CA residents only) PLUS a $50 LTCC Bookstore gift card, courtesy of ADVANCE!

College ID cards are free for all current LTCC students. To get your ID card, simply present a print-out of your class schedule, showing the courses you’re currently enrolled in along with your college ID number, at the main desk in the One-Stop Office located in the Main Building Commons. The One-Stop Office’s hours are Monday-Thursday 8am-8pm, and Friday 8am-5pm. For more information, call the One-Stop at (530) 541-4660 x. 211 or email them at enrollmentservices@ltcc.edu.
