The Intensive Spanish Summer Institute (ISSI) at Lake Tahoe Community College is a one-week immersion experience in beautiful South Lake Tahoe. This highly successful program is recognized by the California Community College Board of Governors as an outstanding community college program. ISSI is for anyone interested in learning Spanish, from high school age and above. You will learn the language and culture with many native Spanish-speaking instructors through 16 levels of language instruction, from Low-Beginning through High-Superior, and a wide variety of cultural Break-Out sessions. Attend classes on grammar, cooking, history, dance, travel, conversation, literature and more. Whether you are studying Spanish for your career, college, or life-long learning, this program will provide the experience to meet your goals. Best of all, it's affordable and very fun!
 
Students will earn 2.5 units of credit designed to promote the development of fluency in Spanish. Courses emphasize both oral and written language skills. Class size is limited to maximize learning. Students are encouraged to enroll as early as possible.
 
Please note: July is a very popular time in South Lake Tahoe and suggest you make your lodging reservations as soon as possible. Discounted rates to some of our favorite hotels are available.

How to Enroll in ISSI

All ISSI students must first either Apply or Update their application.

If you have not been enrolled at LTCC in the last two quarters, you will need to update your application.

For help with CCCApply, call (877) 247-4836 24/7 or email support@openccc.net.

Please allow 1-3 days from application submission to receive your student ID information and Self-Service login information. If you do not receive an email notification, check your "Junk Mail" email folder for it.

Contact the One-Stop Office at (530) 541-4660 x 211 if you do not receive this email.

Once you have your student ID and Self-Service login information, you can register for ISSI courses by visiting the Self-Service online portal. Find ISSI classes and register for them using Self-Service. 

Wait list: If your course or level is full, add yourself to the wait list for that course.
  • It can take up to 48 hours after registering for courses to receive an email acknowledgment.
  • Self-Service works best with Firefox or Internet Explorer. Please do not use Safari. 
  • All course times listed include grammar instruction, breakout sessions, and series sessions.                 
  • Course Times -  Example below:
  • Low Beginning through Intermediate III: 8am-11:50am and Video Breakout Sessions in the afternoon (or at your convenience)
  • High Intermediate through Superior: 8am-11:50 and Breakout Sessions in the afternoon (or at your convenience)
 
 
How to Enroll in ISSI for High School students
  1. Complete the application process through our website. If you have enrolled in classes at LTCC in the past, you do not need to apply again.  
  2. Complete the High School Placement form (HS Counselor signature, LTCC Counselor signature, and Transcripts NOT REQUIRED). Please be specific about what class(es) you want to enroll in on the form.  
  3. Email the completed form to enrollmentservices@ltcc.edu from your LTCC email address.  

Payment: When registering into 11 or less units, tuition should not be charged. There is a $2.00 Student Representation fee that students may pay or opt-out of. ISSI courses do have a materials fee, which you will need to pay for within your portal or in-person with Enrollment Services.
