Maloff Scholars Award Program Launches

August 22, 2018

Thanks to another generous donation from longtime South Shore resident Lisa Maloff, LTCC is proud to announce the new Maloff Scholars program, which will provide financial assistance to students pursuing a bachelor’s degree at the Lisa Maloff University Center (LMUC), located on LTCC's campus. The intent of the scholarship is to provide ten $2,000 awards for the next five years to eligible students entering a bachelor’s degree program with a partner institution at Lake Tahoe Community College’s LMUC.

To be eligible, students must:

  • Enroll full time in a bachelor’s degree program at the LMUC.
  • Complete the Maloff Scholars application.
  • Write a one-page letter explaining how they will use their education to continue Lisa’s legacy of giving back to the community.
  • Significant preference will be given to LTCC alumni who have graduated within the previous year (graduation date any time after July 1, 2017 for Fall 2018 awards).

Students applying for the scholarship must write a one-page letter explaining how they intend to carry on Lisa Maloff’s legacy of giving back, and particularly to those in need. Lisa has become known as the “Angel of Tahoe” due to her spirit of giving and generous donations to the community. Applying students must demonstrate how, through their education at the LMUC, they intend to give back to the community and create a better world for those around them.

The deadline to apply is Friday, August 31 at 4pm. Applicants can either submit their paperwork in person to Financial Aid, located in LTCC’s One-Stop Office in the Main Building Commons, or they can email their application to ramirez@ltcc.edu. For more information, call Financial Aid Technician America Ramirez at (530) 541-4660 ext. 237.

The Lisa Maloff Scholarship application is available online, in the LTCC One-Stop Office in the Main Building Commons, in the Lisa Maloff University Center, and through the person of contact for each of our partner institutions. The contacts are:
