ISSI Orientation - Sunday, July 28

We want you to be prepared for your first day of classes so we're hosting an orientation! Meet your instructors, pick up class materials and get a tour of campus all before the first day of classes. We'll be on hand to address any questions you may have and help you prepare for a successful week.

Lecture with Dr. Rosenberg - Tuesday, July 30

What is all the fuss about Las Meninas? Painted 368 years ago by the Spaniard Diego de Velázquez, this huge canvas (roughly 10 x 9 feet)—the signature piece of Madrid’s Prado Museum—continues to ask big questions, questions that are as relevant in the twenty-first century as they were in the seventeenth. What is beauty? What is art? How does power perpetuate itself and how is art involved in that perpetuation? What is nobility? How do humans represent the human experience, and what are the limits and the challenges of the act of representation? What is real and what is truth? We will explore these questions during our evening together.

Spanish Wine Walk - Wednesday, July 31
Sip, stroll, and savor your way through a captivating wine walk experience. Immerse yourself in the enchanting culture of Spanish and Latin American wine making as you taste some of the regions' most renowned wines. Our knowledgeable guide, Karla will take you through the history and techniques that make Spanish wines so unique while indulging in delicious tapas along the way. Our Spanish wine walk is the perfect way to enjoy the world of wine while exploring the beauty of the college's alpine campus!

Spanish Movie Night - Thursday, August 1
Experience a captivating evening at the Lake Tahoe Community College's Duke Theatre as we present Spanish Movie Night! This event is open to speakers of all levels of Spanish and the movie will feature English subtitles. Stay tuned for updates and detailed information.

Spanish Kids Camp | Monday, July 29 - Friday, August 2

While you're brushing up on your Spanish skills at ISSI, the young ones can be learning and enjoying Tahoe too! LTCC's CONNECT Community Education program has a wide array of fun and enlightening activities for kids ages 6-14. Beginning Spanish speakers can expect to learn the basics in vocabulary and conversation. The more advanced Spanish speaker will be challenged in higher level conversation.

Time: 8 AM - 4 PM
Cost: $325 - Registration opens March 6, 2024
