Black History Month: Free Film & Talk

Duke Theatre

One College Drive
South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150

Celebrate and explore Black History Month at LTCC! Join us for a free screening of the Marvel film, "Black Panther," and stick around for an enlightening talk about the film's impact with CSU Sacramento's Dr. John Johnson on Fri. Feb. 21 at 6pm in LTCC's Duke Theatre. Hosted by LTCC's Equity Department.

Topics will include Afrotourism, black cultural motifs, and how Black Panther fits into the broader Marvel Universe of characters and stories. Dr. Johnson will explore race-blending, white washing in Hollywood and beyond, and the importance of representation in mass media and the need for critical media literacy. This is a free event, and all are welcome!

LTCC is hosting a series of events in February to mark Black History Month. All of these events are free, and all staff, faculty, students and the community are warmly welcomed to all of them.
