What kind of aid is available?
LTCC offers its students financial aid from a variety of programs. Financial aid programs include fee waivers for California residents, grants, scholarships, and work-study.
Scholarships
Lake Tahoe Community College offers a number of scholarship opportunities each spring. The criteria and requirements are different for each; most students will qualify for at least one. Please check our Scholarship Bulletin Board for details.
Grants
Grants are financial aid awards that do not usually have to be repaid. They are awarded based on financial need. To apply for these programs, students must complete the FAFSA On the Web.
Federal Pell Grants provide up to $5500 for the school year. Grant amounts are dependent upon (1) the student's financial need and Expected Family Contribution (EFC), calculated from their FAFSA information; and (2) the student's enrollment status (i.e. full time or part time).
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG) provide awards of up to $750 per school year. FSEOGs are awarded to students with the greatest financial need/lowest EFC on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Cal Grant B is a California state program which awards funds to students from disadvantaged and low-income families. Early application deadlines apply for Cal Grants.
Cal Grant C is awarded to vocational students attending LTCC to acquire marketable job skills. It can assist students with fees and funds for training costs.
The Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) is a new federal program. The grant is available to full-time students who are Federal Pell Grant recipients and who graduated from high school in 2005 or later. Verification that the student completed a rigorous program of study in high school will be required by the Financial Aid Office.
Federal Work-Study
Federal Work-Study is a financial aid program that provides on-campus jobs to students with financial need. Students must complete FAFSA On the Web as the first step to establish eligibility for the work-study program. Work-study awards of up to $4500 for the school year are made to LTCC students on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Board of Govenors Fee Waiver
The Board of Govenors Fee Waiver (BOGW) is the enrollment fee waiver for California residents. In order to qualify you must meet residency and income requirements. You can apply online or use the form available on the Financial Aid page.
