Out of State Students
LTCC welcomes students from outside of California. Tahoe provides a beautiful environment and incredible recreational activities to enjoy while you pursue your education. LTCC has strong academic programs and transfer agreements with many four-year institutions.

Apply
The first step is to apply for admission. Most admission applications are processed within two business days, so you'll know quickly whether you've been accepted. Apply now!
Fees
As an out-of-state student, you will be charged non-resident tuition in addition to the enrollment fees. For current fees, please view our fee chart. To calculate your total fees, you may want to consider that a typical full-time student takes 12-15 units per quarter.
Residency
If you are only in California to attend college, you will retain residency in your home state. However, you can take steps to establish residency if you intend to remain in California after college. To qualify as a California resident at Lake Tahoe Community College, you must:
- Be physically present in California for at least a year and one day prior to the start of the quarter. (Vacation homeowners do not qualify as residents unless their primary home is also in California.) Students who wish to establish California residency should avoid moving to Stateline, Zephyr Cove or other Nevada locations.
- Be a U.S. Citizen, permanent resident or have an immigration status which allows you to establish residency.
- Show intent to establish residency in California by completing activities within the state.
For more information and a tip sheet on changing residency status, please visit our residency page. If you are under 19 and unmarried, your residency is usually based on the parent with whom you lived last. Determining residency can be very complicated. The Admissions & Records office can provide additional information on your individual situation. Documentation is generally required to change your residency status.
Transfer
LTCC is a great place to start if you plan to transfer to a four-year university. For more information about transfer admission agreements, visit our transfer page.
