Scholarship Descriptions

Foundation for the Future Scholarship began with graduates from the Class of 2000 from South Tahoe and Whittell High Schools. The scholarship provides up to 90 units of tuition for those who graduate with a minimum grade point average of 3.0, and can be used during the first four years following high school graduation. The number of students attending Lake Tahoe Community College on this scholarship increases each year. Many of these top students would not be furthering their education without this scholarship. Funding for the Foundation for the Future Scholarship is raised mainly through the Annual Fund.

Erica Faye Ledbetter

In 2010 the Erica Faye Ledbetter Scholarship Program was established by Jessica Ledbetter, in memory of her sister. Through a generous donation of $10,000 per school year, this Scholarship Program assists Lake Tahoe Community College students with their educational expenses, providing $1000 scholarship awards to 10 students who are either working towards an A.A. Degree at LTCC, or transferring to a four-year university in order to pursue their educational and career goals.

The recipients of the Erica Faye Ledbetter Scholarships are students who face hardships as they seek to complete their goals; such hardships may include re-entry students coming back to school in order to improve their employment opportunities; attending college as single parents; first-generation college students; students on the track to citizenship, or new citizens; and students facing language barriers, and/or economic hardships.

Applicants must have completed a minimum of 24 quarter units at LTCC by the end of the Winter Quarter; they must also be enrolled at LTCC during the Spring Quarter in a minimum of 12 quarter units.  Applications are generally submitted in early May of each school year; recipients are notified in early June, and recognized at the annual Awards Ceremony, which is held on the same day as graduation each June. Scholarship awards are disbursed to the recipients the following fall, after they provide proof of full-time enrollment at LTCC or a four-year university.

Students who are enrolled at LTCC for the 2012-13 school year, and who meet the eligibility criteria for the Erica Faye Ledbetter Scholarship Program, are encouraged to apply for these awards using the Common Scholarship Application, which will be posted to this website, as well as the student portal, Passport, beginning in March 2013. Please contact Financial Aid Office staff at LTCC with any questions about this scholarship opportunity:  530-541-4660 ext 236.
