What is CalWORKs? California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids is a federally mandated program designed to assist parents receiving Temporary Aid to Needy Families (TANF).
Who is Eligible? Any student that is currently receiving adult cash aid (TANF) and is in good standing, who has, or who is developing, a Welfare-to-Work Plan with the Department of Human Services.
IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY RECEIVING TANF, AND ARE LOW-INCOME WITH DEPENDENT CHILDREN, PLEASE CONTACT THE CalWORKs STAFF BEFORE YOU APPLY. STUDENTS WHO ARE ENROLLED IN SCHOOL PRIOR TO GOING ON WELFARE MAY HAVE SOME ADDITIONAL RIGHTS. CALL THE CalWORKs PROGRAM STAFF AT (530)541-4660 EXT. 318 FOR INFORMATION AND ADVOCACY.
