David Schnabel (1924-2010) was an accomplished artist as well as a professor in the Art Department at Pasadena City College from 1950-1986 and Department Chair from 1978-1986. His work has been displayed in various galleries throughout the American Southwest, and he was the recipient of a variety of honors and awards in both drawing and oils. Public displays of his work can now be seen at the Pasadena Art Museum, Sierra Madre Library, San Bernardino Valley College, Pasadena City College, and the state office of the NAACP. Reproductions of his work are included in three art publications by Joseph Mugnaini. The Pasadena Arts Council awarded him the Golden Crown Award for his commitment to his students and his significant contribution to the cultural life of his community. The work shown here was donated to Lake Tahoe Community College to further student learning and to contribute to the community college system which he valued so highly.
