Theatre Arts

Around the World in 80 DaysWelcome to LTCC Theatre!

Actors, Designers, Technicians – whatever your passion, we have what it takes to provide you with the training and experience you need to successfully pursue your dreams.

Our full range of lower division transfer classes provide theatre students with the background they need for transfer or an A.A. in Fine Arts with a Theatre major.

We believe in Learning By Doing. We provide hands-on experience for actors and technicians in an active department where students learn their craft from faculty and staff who are working professionals in the industry.

LTCC’s theatre arts and music departments stage two play productions and one musical every year. From drama and comedy to original productions, the theatre offers a diverse range of experiences for the community and students alike.

It's your passion – it's ours, too.

LTCC Theatre - Come out and Play!

2012-2013 SEASON

Winter Quarter 2013

“Around the World in 80 Days”
by Mark Brown
Adapted from the novel by Jules Verne

Stampeding elephants! Raging typhoons! Runaway trains! Unabashedly slapstick! Hold onto your seats for the original amazing race!  Adventurer Phileas Fogg has agreed to an outrageous wager that puts his fortune and his life at risk. With his resourceful servant, Passepartout, Fogg sets out to circle the globe in an unheard-of 80 days, putting his fortune and his very life at risk! But, his every step is dogged by a detective who thinks he's a robber on the run. Danger, romance, and comic surprises abound in this whirlwind of a show as a handful of actors portraying 39 characters traverse seven continents in this new adaptation of one of the great adventures of all time! A ton of fun for all ages!

Spring Quarter 2013

“RENT”
Book, Music and Lyrics by Jonathan Larson

The Lake Tahoe  Community College Theatre Arts Department announces auditions for the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, “RENT,” book, music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson, directed by Susan Boulanger, musical direction by Mark D. Williams, and choreography by Kelly Alvarez.  Auditions will be held Monday, February 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the Duke Theatre.  Callbacks will be Saturday, February 9 at 12:30 p.m.

We are seeking an ethnically diverse cast of strong singers and actors who are comfortable with rock, pop, and gospel music.

All actors are required to sing from the show.  Please see the Theatre Department callboard or Facebook page (LTCC Theatre Arts) for song information and requirements.  A short dance audition will follow the vocal audition.

Rehearsals are Mondays through Thursdays beginning April 8.  Performances are June 14-23.

Set in New York City’s East Village, "RENT" follows the lives of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians as they struggle to survive and create in New York’s Lower East Side in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of the AIDS epidemic. "RENT" is a pop culture phenomenon about love, friendship, finding your voice, and living for today.

Performances:
June - 14, 15, 20, 21, 22 at 8:00 p.m.
June - 16 and 23 at 2:00 p.m.
Casting men and women of various ages. See Theatre Department website or callboard for character breakdown and audition requirements. Scripts will be available on reserve in the library and audition sides will be available at the Theatre Department callboard by December 1.
