Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
 Pre-Requisites: Current CPR card (either American Heart Association C-type or American Red Cross Professional Rescuer) and Medic First Aid card. Students will be required to present copies of these cards at the first class meeting. HEA110E at LTCC satisfies the EMT pre-requisite.
Lake Tahoe Community College’s Emergency Medical Technician 1A course (one quarter) prepares students for a career administering first response treatment in emergency situations.
Responsibilities include driving an ambulance, removing trapped victims from accident scenes, administering emergency patient care, and recording observation. Clinical experience in an emergency room and ambulance ride-alongs further enhance the learning experience.
Lake Tahoe Community College also offers an EMT Refresher class that meets the two-year reinstatement of the EMT-1 certificate by El Dorado County according to the guidelines set forth by the State of California Emergency Medical Services Agency. Upon successful completion of HEA141, students are eligible to take their National Registry Exam in order to be certified as an EMT-1.
Student Notice: The EMT courses at Lake Tahoe Community College are extremely popular and fill very quickly. Courses are offered every fall, winter and spring quarter.
