Michael O'Laughlin

 Michael, who taught at LTCC for a number of years as an adjunct faculty member, was hired full-time in the fall of 1996. Michael received his M.F.A. at the Iowa Writers' Workshop where he was awarded a Teaching Writing Fellowship.
In 1992, he won the Henfield Prize for the short story, and in June of 1995, he was awarded the Townsend Prize for his essay on developmental education. Being a writer, Michael brings to our students a first-hand experience on the frustrations of expressing oneself and a unique perspective on the writing process.
Michael's travels include two trips around the world, one in 1986 and one in 2000. He has twice backpacked the John Muir Trail, done the Everest Trek in Nepal, and traversed the Alpine High Route across Switzerland from Austria to France. He has traveled in over thirty countries.
He is the author of the novel, Omens in a Dry Season.
